Canadian accounting standards issued in recent years have brought investment funds reporting under Canadian GAAP closer in line with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). However, innumerable differences remain and will prove challenging for funds as the transition to IFRS nears.
On September 22, 2008, PricewaterhouseCoopers' Canadian investment management team consisting of Raj Kothari, Stephen Wall, Chris Pitts, Derek Hatoum and Chris Wood, delivered the following presentation at the Toronto Board of Trade. It covered a variety of topics pertaining to IFRS and investment funds, including IAS 39 (financial instruments, recognition and measurement), IFRS 7 (financial instruments, disclosures) and IAS 27 and SIC 12 (consolidation).
