The mission of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada Foundation is to make a positive, lasting change in our communities through the sharing of our time, expertise and resources. It is about connecting people and possibilities.
The Foundation offers a suite of programs designed to support our local communities.
Team Volunteering engages teams of six to 10 people in meaningful day-long projects with charities across Canada, creating countless new possibilities for organizations with limited resources and capacity.
This past year, through Team Volunteering, our people helped build 18 houses, sorted 575 bags of clothing, created 5,400 hospital play-kits, distributed 8,200 snowsuits to children and sorted 73,600 pounds of food.
The Volunteer Grants Program acknowledges our people's sustained volunteer contributions by providing a $300 grant to each charity or community sports organization where a PwC person volunteers more than 50 hours of personal time over the course of the year.
The Volunteer Recognition Program acknowledges and celebrates the extraordinary volunteer efforts of PwC people who help make our communities better places to live and work.
Anyone in the firm can nominate him or herself for a Volunteer Award. Nominees are identified based on their volunteer contribution to a non-profit organization, their impact on the greater community, and their demonstration of our firm values of excellence, teamwork and leadership. The recipients of these awards are selected by a committee of their peers in each office and recognized at a local volunteer ceremony.
In 2008, nearly $30,000 in financial awards was given to the organizations where our 18 Volunteer of the Year Award recipients contributed their time.
Through the Leadership Grants program, the Foundation offers grants to existing or emerging charity leaders to support the advancement of their professional development and organizational goals. Our staff and partners invite charities that are aligned with the cause areas most important to them to apply for these grants.
The Foundation has created tools and workshops specifically designed to educate staff and partners about the needs that exist in their communities and the organizations that are searching for volunteers. Staff and partners can access these resources on-line or through attending live sessions.
