Stewarding success

James Temple, PwC’s corporate responsibility director, discusses how to steward a corporate relationship once an organization has secured funding. Relationship building isn’t always easy especially when dealing with multiple managers who are responsible for the reporting the outcomes of their funding.

To help not for profits remain focused on relationship building and deliver the objectives they hope to achieve from their partnerships, James shares the following three tips in the attached PDF:

  1. Shift power dynamics — consider how the geography of a meeting affects the outcome
  2. Keep communication simple — deliver successful sound bites of critical information
  3. Recognition goes well beyond a plaque — be aware that some approaches to thanking people are more effective than others
