Entertainment and Media Tax Clip: New Brunswick's Film Tax Credit enhanced and extended to 2019 (December 21, 2009)

The New Brunswick Film Tax Credit (NBFTC) is a refundable tax credit available to corporations that produce film, television or video productions in the province. The province’s Bill 14:

• Extends the NBFTC by 10 years so that eligible salaries incurred before January 1, 2020, will qualify
• Introduces a regional bonus credit for productions that occur more than 50 km from the province’s three largest cities

These changes intend to help the province's film industry remain competitive and will be welcomed by film producers. As a result of the extension, film producers can continue to benefit from the credit for at least another decade. The regional bonus provides an incentive to produce films outside major centres.
