Early Achievement Awards are presented to CAs who show exceptional achievement within the first 10 years of their qualification as a CA. Candidates demonstrate excellence in professional, civic, charitable, community or other service, and excellence in their career.
This honour is made all the more special by noting that Cynthia is the only representative from the Big 4 in this category and that she has held her designation for the least amount of time among the recipients, making this a true early achievement.
Cynthia's success is highly tied to her intrinsic ability to take notice of small details, to be open to diverse thoughts and ideas and to engage people to work towards the bigger picture. Tricia Antonini, Senior Manager at PwC notes, “She demonstrates fully the two key elements of PwC’s corporate responsibility strategy — simply ‘to do the right thing’ and ‘be a catalyst for change’ with our people, clients and communities.”
A first generation Canadian, her belief is that we need to be the creators and stewards for the community that we live in. Her most notable volunteer accomplishments have been with the Alberta CA Community Ambassadors, Junior Achievement, the PwC Foundation, TimeRaiser and the Calgary Stampede & Exhibition where she is a currently a member of the Grandstand Committee. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Calgary Program.
Prior to working in consulting, Cynthia was with the PwC Audit Practice and had also worked in industry. With an undergraduate degree in Human Resources, she knew her future would be to work in an environment where she could use her passion to help organizations by marrying the technical problem solving skills of being a CA along with her love of working with people.
Recipients will be officially honoured with their awards at the Celebrating Alberta CAs Merit Awards Gala on Saturday, June 22, at the Jasper Park Lodge.
