PwC Money Tree Q2 2011 report: Soaring ahead

US venture capital funding for the Technology sector1 was $3.9 billion in 574 deals during the second quarter of 2011, according to findings from the MoneyTree™ Report by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), based on data from Thomson Reuters. Technology investment was up 27 percent in dollars and up 3 percent in the number of deals from the second quarter of 2010. For all industries, US venture capitalists invested $7.5 billion in 966 deals during the second quarter of 2011.

High-dollar deals

US venture capital funding for the life sciences sector, which includes biotechnology and medical devices, leapt 37% during the second quarter of 2011, according to the MoneyTree™ Report from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA), based on data provided by Thomson Reuters. Venture capitalists invested $2.1 billion in 206 life sciences deals, delivering the seventh-best quarter since the MoneyTree Report began collecting data in 1995.
