At PwC, we evaluate the likelihood of future events and design solutions to minimize the impact of adverse events on our client's financial results. Our actuaries provide clients with opportunities to work better with uncertainties and manage risks. It's highly technical work, but it makes a difference in determining insurance premiums, managing financial risks for banks, or establishing a company's retirement plan.

Our actuarial practice includes:

  • Actuarial-Property & Casualty (P&C): We provide consulting services to P&C insurance companies, reinsurance companies, government agencies and alternative risk- sharing mechanisms. Consulting projects include reserve analysis, dynamic capital adequacy testing, ratemaking, due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, and financial analysis.
  • Actuarial-Pensions: We provide pension consulting services to clients with respect to funding, accounting and administration of a defined benefit pension plan. Consulting projects include due diligence for mergers and acquisitions and pension plan windups.

Throughout our practice areas, you'll help clients evaluate risk by carrying out complex calculations and developing forecast models. You'll be part of our "one firm approach" to help clients' build their success. As one of the world's leading professional services networks, we can draw on the information, insights and ideas of 184,000 people in 157 territories where PwC has offices worldwide. Risk Assurance Services: Turn risks into opportunities. Recommend improvements.

1. What we do

In today's business environment, managing risk and meeting regulatory compliance is more difficult than ever. More issues impact an organization’s bottom line than ever before, so businesses must constantly revamp their strategies, technologies and processes to survive in a world of constant change. Businesses must capitalize on brand-enhancing business opportunities in response to pressure from shareholders, all while trying to find business improvements to meet customer demands for competitive pricing. At PwC, we help clients address regulatory issues and business transformation so they can reach their performance goals. By identifying gaps and providing a roadmap for positive change, we help them be the best, most efficient businesses they can be.

At PwC, our Risk Assurance Services (RAS) teams help clients address regulatory issues and business transformation. We work with them to identify the gaps, while recommending a roadmap for positive change.

It is an exciting time at PwC as we are expanding our risk assurance services offering into non-financial areas to bring additional insights to our many Assurance clients. The heightened volumes of data in companies — and the risks related to keeping that data secure, and demands for greater transparency around data collected have developed a growing need for trust and the opportunity to provide assurance to support these increased complexities in risk management.

Our program

Our three-year rotational program will expose you to the following areas within Risk Assurance Services:

  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP): We assist companies to develop and maintain strong ERP controls which allow them to get the best performance and value from their ERP investments. We also help to embed these controls into their day-to-day processes so they can do more with less when it comes to managing risk and improving controls.

  • Performance Assurance: We provide custom, end-to-end solutions which give our clients an independent perspective on the effectiveness of their information and risk management processes.

This allows organizations to build their commercial advantage by proactively addressing financial and non-financial performance issues, including reputational competitiveness, customer fairness, environmental integrity/impact and resource productivity.

  • Risk: We help our clients turn risk into opportunity. We offer enterprise-wide risk management systems and services that can improve business operations by enhancing revenues, reducing costs and managing changes to business processes.

Our customized Internal Audit (IA) team provides a range of services, from full outsourcing, to co-sourcing and project-by-project assistance, to help our clients to build the right capabilities to add maximum value to their organization.

  • Data Management Group: We help clients manage their data better. Why? Because organizations need to feel confident that the information generated from their business data is reliable and can help them make the right business decisions. We develop and implement customized, as well as industry-based solutions using a number of well-established tools, techniques and methodologies. We help organizations analyze and report on data in the most robust and detailed manner possible.
