Guy LeBlanc, FCA

Managing Partner, PwC Montréal

Welcome to PwC Montréal. The choice of where to start your career is a very important one and it calls for an informed decision. Let me share why I joined PwC, when I was in your shoes. I had always dreamed of a career that would be marked by new challenges in a stimulating, open and dynamic professional environment— a career that would let me advance and develop personally and professionally. PwC has allowed me to do just that. Since I joined the firm, I've benefited from some wonderful opportunities. I became a partner in 1991 and six years later, I took charge of the Consulting practice.

As you get to know more about us, you'll find that our Montréal office offers a diversified clientele and provides access to a unique global network. Working at our firm gives you the opportunity to gain professional experience abroad, as part of certain engagements and programs. I personally enjoyed a three-year international exchange program in Switzerland. If you choose PwC, I assure you that the firm will challenge and reward you, both personally and professionally.

I wish you the best of luck and look forward to meeting you.

The first Canadian office of Price Waterhouse opened in the Old Port of Montréal in 1907. Today, PwC Montréal is located in the heart of downtown. Our offices are on five floors in one of the tallest buildings in the city – a beautiful, modern 50-storey building with breathtaking panoramic views. The office includes approximately 625 staff and 50 partners, 50% of whom are women.

Even though we're a fairly large office, we still have a sense of family. For example, we encourage staff to get involved in the local implementation of our national people initiatives, such as work/life flexibility and coaching through our Action Group. We're also pleased to have obtained CATO status in our Tax Group. We're now recruiting for summer, co-op and full time positions, giving you an amazing opportunity to work in both our Audit and Assurance or Tax Group.

Tax Practices

In December 2010, the Montréal office became an accredited CA Training Office. The PwC Tax CA program is committed to helping you achieve your career goals to become an exceptional tax specialist and business advisor.

The program offers a variety of technical training courses in conjunction with hands-on learning experiences to help you be a well-rounded CA Tax Specialist. To help you achieve your CA designation, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with a team of our partners and associates by working on a diverse mix of clients, industries and speciality groups in both the private and corporate sector. We offer rotational job assignments in departments such as Canadian Corporate Tax, US Corporate Tax and International Tax. Joining PwC will guarantee to broaden your tax-related knowledge as well as give you the training and resources you need to succeed!

We look forward to having you join the PwC team!

"I arrived in the middle of my assignment. I was nervous that I would not get a full understanding of the client compared to my colleagues who had already gained a full month's experience. However, thanks to our regular round table discussions, I quickly gained a better understanding of my mandate's requirements and was able to integrate myself within the team." — Sophie, Associate, AAG

We believe that we have a responsibility to contribute to the communities in which we live and work, and to share our skills, expertise and resources with the charitable sector.

Through the PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada Foundation, we help our people connect with charitable organizations of interest to them such as Welcome Hall Mission, Accueil Bonneau, Québec Breakfast Club, Starlight Children's Foundation Canada, Héritage Laurentien and Pro-Vert Sud-Ouest. In 2010-2011, our employees in Montréal volunteered more than 2,100 hours in the community. We also get involved in local causes such as United Way, the Ride for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, le Grand défi Pierre Lavoie and the 24h Tremblant for Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau.

To help support the environment, the Montréal Environmental Committee organizes activities throughout the year and helps introduce new ways we can help the office reduce its environmental footprint. A highlight of their work is the annual Green Week, where the committee sends out "green tips" and organizes activities such as tree planting.

"It's important that PwC is looking to reduce its environmental footprint. In my five years at PwC, I've seen how the Montréal office has replaced the big bottles at the water fountains with a system of piped filtered water and issued everyone with a personalized cup. We also supply biodegradable 'disposable' cutlery in the kitchens. All these initiatives show that PwC cares about the environmental impact. I'm proud to work for this organization." — Louise, Administrative Assistant, IFS

Organized by our Social Committees, the staff at the Montréal office enjoys a jam-packed social calendar which includes events like the Annual Holiday Dinner and Dance, our "Offeree" Cocktail Party, Ski Day, Summer Outdoor Activity Day and numerous Happy Hours and staff retreats.

We're also committed to your health through our Wellness Week and many sports teams including hockey, softball, basketball, soccer and dragon boat racing.

We recognize the importance of acknowledging staff on a job well done, whether that is through a UFE celebration, promotion celebration or our Long Service Award celebration.

"Working at the PwC Montréal office is an enriching experience because of all the opportunities we have and the strong relationships that are built within the office. It feels like PwC is one big family. The resources offered for the UFE have encouraged me through the entire process. The quality of coaching sessions and the support I received from those who have already passed the UFE has really motivated me." — Émilie, Associate, AAG
