The offices in the PwC Atlantic Region believe that we have a responsibility to contribute to the communities in which we live and work. It’s important to us to share our skills, expertise and resources with the charitable sector. Through the PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada Foundation, we help our people connect with charitable organizations that are of interest to them. We offer our people a Volunteer Day, which is one paid day a year, to go and volunteer at a cause of their choice. In 2010-2011, our employees volunteered more than 870 of paid hours to local community organizations.

Some of our work in the community includes:
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • UNICEF Canada
  • Feed Nova Scotia
  • NS SPCA Metro Shelter
  • George Street United Church
  • Barry House

In addition to our volunteering, we have Environmental Committees that participate in national environmental initiatives throughout the year.

"It’s great to get the chance to help out at local charities. Seeing the work that Habitat for Humanity supports beyond the main home building program is rewarding. It’s an opportunity to work with colleagues in a non-office setting and I look forward to the chance to work with Habitat in the future.” — Sujit, Senior Associate

An important part of the team-building process is getting involved in social events based inside and outside of the office. Whether it’s participating in the CA Hockey or Softball league, getting together for a night of karaoke to celebrate the end of a busy season, participating in a team volunteering event or simply having lunch together, we know it‘s important to have fun while working.

Our annual Town Hall Meeting, Holiday Party and Family Day are events where all members of the Atlantic Region offices get to come together to meet face-to-face. It makes everyone feel like they are part of more than just a firm, even though we’re located in different cities.

"Whether it was hanging out in the lunch room, going out for drinks, playing a round of golf or a game of hockey, there were lots of ways to get to know other people in the office. I played on PwC's hockey team in the Halifax CA league. It was a good way to meet colleagues from other areas of PwC and to broaden my accounting network." — Clement, Co-Op Student
