Welcome to the 16th annual Trendsetter survey brought to you by PwC and Desrosiers Automotive Consultants. In this year’s survey, we have revisited a topic that we surveyed in 1997 – succession planning. Succession planning is vitally important to ensure that the interests of the dealer principals (and their families) are taken care of in addition to the dealership operations.

The results of the survey revealed some surprises about how dealers are handling succession planning (or not!), whether they have put in place key elements such as will planning, if they’ve incorporate their family members, and how they have communicated their plans.
