Chairman David W. Smith (left) and CEO Tom O'Neill (right) led the newly-formed PricewaterhouseCoopers from July, 1998 to July, 2001. Prior to formation of PwC, Smith was Chairman and Chief Executive Partner at Coopers & Lybrand and O'Neill was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Price Waterhouse. At the time PricewaterhouseCoopers was formed, the member firms of PricewaterhouseCoopers had more than 140,000 partners and staff, including 9,000 partners, working in 867 offices in 152 countries.
