Arthur Wightman - Partner
A partner in our specialised Insurance and Reinsurance team, Arthur has wide experience with global companies working with them directly in Bermuda, Europe and the United States. Arthur has extensive audit and advisory relationships across the sector, and creates value for clients on a range of levels including strategy, corporate acquisitions and disposals, commercial due diligence and transaction services, performance improvement (finance transformation) and risk & regulatory management. He has significant reinsurance expertise and has been supporting clients more recently with various specialised insurance vehicles and insurance-linked securitisations. Arthur is regularly featured in sector commentary in international press, participates on expert panels at various industry events and publishes PwC thought leadership including a recent reinsurance strategy piece entitled ‘Daring to be different’.
Arthur also leads PwC’s Regulatory Advisory Practice currently addressing the various aspects of Bermuda’s Insurance Solvency Framework. This includes elements such as governance and internal control, group and company supervision, equivalence, the standard capital model (Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement) and internal models and model validation, eligible capital and solvency considerations, code of conduct, catastrophe returns, disclosures and the economic balance sheet. Arthur advises clients on their implementation projects for Solvency II and has led engagements in Bermuda and London (specifically syndicates within Lloyd's). Arthur has written and spoken widely on Solvency II.
Arthur is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bermuda.
