What we do: Tax

Join us as a tax trainee and enjoy a combination of compliance and research work that will stretch your skills and help you develop as a rounded professional.

Planning, executing, reviewing

The PwC tax team helps clients such as hedge funds and insurers prepare their US tax returns – but there’s more to what we do than simply complying with red tape. Crucially, we provide them with specialist, expert advice that allows them to strategically plan their financial and operational activities so as to enjoy minimal tax liability, regardless of the jurisdiction in which they conduct business.

The industries in which we operate are highly specialised and, as our clients often engage in transactions involving a range of financial products, our people are regularly faced with highly complex challenges. This provides a stimulating working environment, where the tax or economic consequences of a host of different options must be considered.

Our role doesn’t end once we devise and execute an innovative solution. As tax rules and regulations change constantly, we’re tasked with keeping our clients up-to-date with the latest developments – and ensuring their tax arrangements have the agility and flexibility built in to respond swiftly to changes that impact on their business.

Your training will involve study for the CPA designation in the US, alongside peers from the US firm, although your on-the-job, internal technical training will be highly tax-focused. The skills you’ll develop – around analysis, planning, forward-thinking and consulting – will be transferable wherever your future career takes you.
