PwC Bermuda’s Tax group has exciting opportunities for tax associates to join their team. As a member of the U.S. Tax Team you will assist businesses, individuals and organizations with tax strategy, planning and compliance, whilst delivering a wide range of business advisory services. This opportunity involves combining industry insight with the technical skills of financial and tax specialists, economists, lawyers and our other in-house experts as necessary, to develop comprehensive integrated solutions.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the tax partner and experienced managers, responsibilities will include:

  • The preparation and review of U.S. tax returns for insurance companies, investment partnerships and other U.S. tax filings;
  • Conducting U.S. tax research and drafting tax technical research memoranda;
  • The preparation of presentation materials for the marketing of U.S. tax services; and
  • Meeting with existing and potential clients to discuss tax issues.

Required skills/ experience

The candidate must possess the following skills and experience:

  • Qualified to sit the CPA with either a relevant Masters Degree or 5th year equivalent. Candidates qualified to sit the bar exam in a U.S state will also be considered; Candidates being considered for the senior associate role must be CPA qualified.
  • Minimum of 12 tax credit hours will need to have been obtained;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Highly organised, dedicated and self motivated;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills.

Senior Associate – Asset Management & Banking

PwC Bermuda has a position for Senior Associates within our Asset Management and Banking Assurance practice starting September 2014. This role involves providing assurance services (principally audit) to a range of clients in the Asset Management practice with a primary focus on banking. Working closely with engagement leaders, you will be involved in the planning, execution and completion of a variety of engagements including a group audit with multi-location scoping. You should have a CA or CPA (or equivalent) designation and be familiar with an internationally recognized basis of accounting such as, but not limited to, US GAAP, IFRS, Canadian or UK GAAP. Strong communication and client relationship skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and within a team.  Previous experience in banking is essential.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Strong communication skills;
  • The ability to work independently and within a team;
  • Knowledge and experience of US GAAP or IFRS essential;

Actuarial Experienced Manager - Life Reinsurance

PwC Bermuda is looking for an exceptional candidate for our Actuarial and Insurance Management Solutions team, providing actuarial services to our life reinsurance clients. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth of the actuarial consulting practice, while also supporting our market leading audit practice. This Experienced Manager level position would suit an ambitious, goal-oriented actuary, looking for challenges in an exciting and dynamic market.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide audit support services to a range of life (re)insurers and captives, both in Bermuda and throughout the Caribbean;
  • Provide actuarial consulting services including performing approved actuary roles, financial reporting, profitability reviews for life reinsurers, risk and capital modelling, and other actuarial projects;
  • Co-develop our actuarial and advisory consulting solutions;
  • Maintain knowledge of industry, market, and competition; anticipate external market trends, internal and client needs;
  • Involvement in proposal and business development activities;
  • Act as a mentor and coach, motivating a team to deliver a high standard of work within given timeframes and budgets, thereby creating an environment that encourages both individual and team accomplishments; and
  • Provide training to new audit staff on actuarial issues.

Required Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Credentialed Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries or Society of Actuaries (or equivalent) with between 7-10 years practicing experience;
  • Prior US GAAP Reserving and Auditing experience across a wide range life insurance products including both Fixed and Variable Annuities;
  • Practical experience of capital modelling and/or ERM would be a distinct advantage;
  • Experience with leading teams and in people management, including coaching and developing staff;
  • Experience in building and maintaining client relationships;
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written communication skills in English), organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  • Experience with the Bermuda regulatory market, or with similar regulators in other jurisdictions would be an asset;
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage several ongoing projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines; and
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
