What we do: Taxation

More than a dozen dedicated US and international tax specialists make up our growing team. As the market leader for tax advice on the island, ideally we seek people with either hedge fund or insurance skill sets – but our primary focus is on team players who want to be constantly challenged in our multi-functional practice (alternative investment funds, insurance and international taxation).

Local selection, global connection

The connectivity with our global network of firms is one of the main reasons that experienced tax professionals join PwC in Bermuda. We proactively encourage direct liaison at manager, senior manager and partner level with colleagues in the US (and UK), while annual practice meetings and technical traning in the US will give you the opportunity for further networking.

The advantage you’ll gain will be in the way you can leverage off that network – from the perspective of maintaining your own personal skill sets, as well as identifying career opportunities elsewhere in the firm.

We also work closely with colleagues in other financial centres, such as London, Cayman Islands and Dublin – with international secondments always a possibility.

You’ll enjoy the benefits of full integration; the global network is always there to call on for advice. As the largest professional services firm here, you’ll have access to large, highly stimulating client engagements that will stretch your capability and advance your professional development.

Why not industry?

Once you’ve qualified, it may be tempting to make the switch into an insurer or hedge fund. But what would you miss out on?

Our people tell us that one of the principle advantages working at PwC has over a relatively isolated in-house tax role in industry is the collegiate feel of the office, the enormous resources and, most importantly, the diverse mix of people, each with specialist knowledge. The dialogue and support network within the office and the wider firm quite simply make work here more enjoyable.

In addition to your core activity around hedge funds or insurance, you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in special tax-related project work, which could range from internal audit support, M&A due diligence or structuring of offshore businesses. Outside the tax department, there’s plenty of interaction with other service lines – both on cross-team client assignments and from a social perspective.
