Financial Systems Analyst

The Finance Planning Analyst provides management information and reporting to a wide range of stakeholders, has an overview of our global operations and the opportunity to interact with personnel throughout the Group. Our goal is to provide reliable and timely information, to continuously identify improvements and implement solutions.

This is a newly created role that will work with management in Finance and IT to drive the production of timely and accurate data; contribute to the financial planning process; design and implement group financial planning models; ensure data standardisation and reporting across the Group’s financial systems; build and maintain system-based reporting solutions; and actively works with different users across the Group to develop and grow Finance reporting functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, develop, document and maintain accurate Group financial systems and models
  • Responsible for day to day preparation of group financial planning and analysis
  • Design and implement effective management reporting solutions for a wide range of stakeholders, across various departments and senior management,
  • Responsible for design, documentation, development and testing of financial software applications in accordance with the requirements of the business
  • Maintain consistency and system integration between Group planning and financial reporting systems (general ledger, consolidation system and reporting tools)
  • Maintain and facilitate the effective performance of the Group’s financial planning software, including the integration of key financial systems
  • Work with various business functions and locations to collect planning information for input into the Group’s financial planning systems
  • Preparation of monthly actual versus budget reporting for legal entities and functional heads
  • Responsibility for calculating and communicating allocations of shared and non-shared costs, production of monthly intercompany journals
  • Development of Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow forecast models
  • Direct technical IT staff to implement changes in order to meet design requirements
  • Assist with quarterly Board reporting, including analysis of performance and other management information required at the corporate level
  • Provide assistance to other finance functions i.e. financial reporting, as necessary
  • Maintain effective internal controls, liaise with the external and internal auditors
  • Keep up to date with current technical requirements and industry trends
  • Assisting with ad hoc projects and other duties as required by management

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Accounting, Finance), internationally recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA) required
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, re/insurance industry preferred
  • Must have experience with General Ledger and Planning software. Consolidation software experience would be an asset
  • Advanced experience building financial models and financial statement projections
  • Financial software development skills an advantage, assisting with system maintenance and support of finance systems will be required
  • Must be able to work with different users across the business and translate their needs to develop technology-driven solutions
  • Experience within a complex organizational structure, global, multi-currency, highly-regulated environment required
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint an advantage
  • Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency, highly organized and able to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced business environment
  • Must show initiative, demonstrate ability to work both independently and as part of team
  • Must be able to interact with senior management, cross-functional personnel throughout the global group, while demonstrating a high degree of professionalism
  • Excellent communication, presentation (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to interact with a wide variety of audiences is essential
  • Commitment to meeting strict deadlines, ability to work overtime and travel as required
