PwC community volunteer day at WindReach

Our In the community program organises a number of corporate volunteer days throughout the year in order to give all our employees the opportunity to participate in hands-on volunteering within the community.

On October 9, 2009, over 60 PwC partners and staff spent the day volunteering at WindReach Recreational Facility as part of PwC In the community program.

Their facilities include a petting zoo, activity centre, nature trail and camping ground. Programs include adaptive sports, therapeutic riding, work experience, summer camp and a seniors’ program.

Partners and staff spent the day painting buildings, gardening and clearing trails. They also had the opportunity to assist with WindReach’s therapeutic riding program.

Lance Furbert, Executive Director at WindReach said, “On behalf of our founder Alexander J. (Sandy) Mitchell, the directors and staff of WindReach, I would like to thank the staff of PwC for choosing WindReach for their community service day. The day was an outstanding success and the work of the PwC volunteers contributed significantly to the preparations for our Harvest Festival and the celebration of our tenth anniversary. The enthusiasm and energy with which the work was carried out was truly amazing and your efforts are greatly appreciated.”

“Our mission at WindReach is to provide an inclusive and accessible community facility which will enrich the quality of life for people of all abilities, ages and needs. We rely on the support of volunteers like PwC to fulfill our mission for the benefit of those with special needs and the community at large.”
