Lut Nelissen was appointed HR Director at PwC Belgium on 1 July 2009. She is responsible for the development and integration of its HR strategy, as well as the implementation of this strategy within the firm.
After studying economics and then psychology at the K.U. Leuven, Lut Nelissen started her professional career as a therapist and later went on to become a training consultant. Four years later she joined Mercuri Urval as an HR consultant and shared responsibility for launching the Brussels office. In 1987, she moved into human resources management and worked for companies such as ICL (Fujitsu) and Boels et Bégault (which later became part of the Aon group). After working for a while as an outplacement consultant at ADV Consulting, Lut was appointed HR Director Benelux at Bull in the mid-1990s, a position she held for five years. She then joined Compaq as HR Director Belux and was also responsible for the European Works Council. For the last seven years, she held the post of HR Director General Western Europe at Hewlett Packard, where she was heavily involved with completion of the merger of Compaq and HP, the setting up of an international sales graduates academy and the international talent management programme.
Her decision to move to PwC was inspired above all by the attractive and stimulating work environment and the company’s emphasis on human development. “PwC Belgium is part of a major international network, bringing together more than 155,000 people, with a highly professional profile worldwide,” says Lut Nelissen. “These strengths create an attractive corporate culture, with corresponding challenges and opportunities. Generally speaking, I am drawn to the consulting and professional services sector because it brings you into contact with high calibre professionals. Human development is also an important part of PwC’s core business. We sell our know-how and our expertise, in the form of our people. During my career, I’ve always enjoyed working with creative and innovative people. At PwC, I’m definitely in the right place. I’m looking forward to contributing to the further development of PwC and its people.”
