Brussels, January 2007 – The UK’s Tax Business magazine accords the Belgian Ine Lejeune, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Leader of the global indirect tax network, fifth place in its international ranking of influential fiscalists. The list, issued now for the third year, is intended to reward the crème de la crème in international taxation by including fiscalists whose influence reaches beyong the bounds of their own job.
According to the publication, Ine lejeune is the modern face of indirect taxation because she stimulates her clients to increasingly digitise at the same time as being able to guide them through complex, multi-jurisdictional international projects. Thanks to assignments for the European Commission and the OECD, whereby she deals with large businesses as well as tax authorities, she has acquired a global insight into indirect taxation across the whole world. Hence her great influence on the European tax community.
In addition to her other academic activities, Ine Lejeune has written the book A Guide to VAT in the EU of 25 countries. It is precisely this sort of initiative that helps her keep a finger on the pulse. Lejeune is not only the only woman in the top ten but also the only Belgian in the entire list. This year’s number one is John Samuels, Vice-president of Taxation at GE.
