Training and development

The key word at PwC is ‘development’. In addition to an attractive pay package, our people are also given the opportunity to develop themselves and their professional skills at a number of levels.

We provide a wide range of training courses:

In addition to all this, our clients themselves – all of which are major players in the world of Belgian and international business – offer our people extremely enriching experience in a wide range of business sectors.

1. Introduction programme for new employees and associated in-house training courses

A career at PwC is a process of continuous growth. Our Learning & Development team makes sure that the knowledge and skills of our staff are kept up to the mark and developed in line with a structured programme.

As a new employee, you can expect to follow an introduction programme, in which you are shown the ropes for working at PwC and which, where necessary, also lays the foundations for the specific technical knowledge that you will need to get started in your job.

2. Technical training

A number of the professions practised by PwC require additional training aimed at gaining a professional qualification. PwC fully supports these programmes. We handle the administrative side of enrolment for our people and also make sure they’re assigned the required number of work-experience supervisors and interesting projects, as well as extra days off for the annual exams. And we also pay the enrolment fees and some out-of-pocket expenses.

Most of our Auditors enrol for examinations and traineeships that lead to admission to the roll of Company Auditors at the Institute of Company Auditors (www.ibr-ire.be). PwC’s tax consultants can combine their daily job with a traineeship and examinations leading to the professional “Tax Consultant” qualification at the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Tax Consultants (www.iab-iec.be). Tax & Accountancy Advisers can take the qualifying exams to become a Chartered Accountant (expert comptable; accountant) at the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Tax Consultants (www.iab-iec.be).

The advisory department supports a whole range of official certification courses. These include Certified International Investment Advisor, Certified Internal Auditor, Financial Risk Management, International Cash Management Certificate, SAP FI/CO Certificate, Chartered Financial Analyst, Certificate in Production and Inventory Management, Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager, Certified Information Systems Security Professional, Certificate in the Governance of Enterprise IT and ITIL Service Manager. You liaise with your coach throughout the whole process as to which of these are likely to be relevant for your further personal and professional development.

3. Personal skills

In addition to a wide range of technical courses that only take up a few weeks every year, our training curriculum for soft skills helps our people coach their team members properly and effectively, as well as manage their projects, write reports and other documents and gain other management skills.

4. Coaching

You will be assigned a coach from day one at PwC. Your coach will support and guide you throughout your whole career and keep an eye on how you’re developing in your job. You will also have regular assessments in which you can set new goals and, if necessary, make adjustments to a number of current objectives.

You will be able to learn a great deal from the people you work with, too. Teamwork and knowledge-sharing are two of the strengths of our corporate culture.

5. Additional academic courses in Belgium

Each year, PwC sponsors large numbers of employees who want to take a post-grad masters in taxation, MBA or other qualifications. Further specialism or acquiring further academic knowledge is always a possibility once you’ve started with us.

6. PwC courses and training abroad

A strongly developed international network such as PwC also boasts an international training and education curriculum. There are cyclical further education courses for each professional discipline and/or specialist area, such as VAT level 1, VAT level 2 and Transactions. You can find out more about these opportunities once you start work with us. And each year, when it comes to discussing your development plan, you and your coach can look at what further qualification programmes you might be eligible for.
