December 23, 2008 — After several years of cooperation, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Economics Department at Lomonosov Moscow State University signed a new agreement. According to this agreement, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) will donate RUB 1.5 million to equipping an auditorium in the Economic Department’s new building.
The agreement also includes developing for the department a laboratory for tax planning under the leadership of Kirill Nikitin, a partner at PwC and an alumnus of the Economics Department. Mr Nikitin, together with his colleagues, has taught a lecture course on tax planning at the department for the past five years.
Kirill Nikitin, partner at PwC, Tax and Legal Services, Energy, Utilities and Mining:
“This agreement had taken our successful cooperation to a new level. We are happy to assist the Economics Department in equipping the long-anticipated new building, particularly during these uncertain times. Every year several graduates from the department’s bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes go on to work at PricewaterhouseCoopers. I would like to express my gratitude to the leadership of the department, including Professor V. Kolesov and Assistant Professor V. Echenike for the wonderful opportunity to make this contribution to the teaching, academic and research activities of the department through the creation of this laboratory. Taking into consideration the widening stream of students graduating from the Economics Department and deciding, like I did 15 years ago, to start a career at PwC, the synthesis of theory and practice is increasingly important to conducting meaningful research in the fields of tax planning and tax policies.”
Editor Notes:
In 2005, PricewaterhouseCoopers started the Charity Instead of Gifts programme. For two years in a row, PricewaterhouseCoopers has brought this idea to life, reallocating its funds for New Year’s business gifts to charities. In 2008, over 100 companies joined this effort, and the number of contributors continues to grow. Apart from addressing specific social issues, the project helps develop a charity-minded culture in Russia.
