September 3, 2007 — On the eve of the 2007–2008 Russian Hockey Super League season, PricewaterhouseCoopers has announced that it has signed a sponsorship contract with hockey club CSKA Moscow. PricewaterhouseCoopers is the Official Sponsor of this Russian sporting icon for the 2007-2008 season.

Supporting Russian sport and restoring it to its former glory is a national priority. PricewaterhouseCoopers wants to contribute to achieving this goal, and to laying the ground for the first Russian medals at the Olympic Games in Sochi 2014. Sponsorship of CSKA should help the club in achieving the highest results on the ice, both in Russia and internationally. Sponsorship money will go towards improving facilities and equipment, supporting CSKA's Olympic reserve hockey academy and other club activities.

This is a logical progression in the development of PricewaterhouseCoopers’ corporate social responsibility programme in Russia. In the past we focussed on three main socially important areas: Children, Education and Culture. For many years now we have been helping orphanages, developing an internship program for their graduates, financing the restoration of heritage sites in Russia and participating in international charity programs to raise funds for underprivileged children in Russia. Supporting local sport is an exciting new dimension of the firm’s corporate social responsibility activities and official sponsorship of this Russian sporting icon — a team with both a glorious past and an exciting future — is a great way to start.
