Despite the economic downturn, the retail and consumer sector continues to be one of the most stable sectors of the Russian economy. However, the crisis, which touches all aspects of our lives, also inevitably triggers changes in the retail and consumer market. Just like companies in this sector, our practice is also developing.

The seminar comprised several sessions held by PricewaterhouseCoopers professionals from different LoSes, specialising in Tax and Legal services. Key discussion points incuded:

  • Brief overview of the the retail and consumer industry trends;
  • Losses, negative net assets;
  • Deduction of expenses for tax purposes;
  • Inclusion of license and franchise payments into the customs value of goods;
  • Latest trends in VAT refund from the budget;
  • The advantages and practical difficulties of the customs union between the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, and Belarus;
