Introduction
The SEC recently published the proposed Roadmap to mandatory adoption of International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS") in the US. This roadmap allows the optional use of IFRS by qualifying domestic issuers as early as December 2009 and mandatory adoption beginning in 2014.

US owned foreign subsidiaries will also be affected by this change. You may be interested to learn about the impact of the conversion from US GAAP to IFRS. With this in mind we are organizing a seminar to present our views and experiences on what you might expect from this change.

We will bring speakers from PwC's Accounting and Valuation Advisory Services alongside a guest speaker from Royal Philips Electronics N.V. who will discuss his experiences related to Philips’ recent change from US GAAP to IFRS as primary reporting language. Our presentations will include practical examples of what you may encounter during an IFRS conversion process.

There will be plenty of time for questions and interactive discussions on the topics.

Topics
We will address

  • Why is the SEC advocating a change now?
  • What are the benefits and problems with a global IFRS?
  • What issues deserve your attention now?
  • When is the best time to begin the change?
  • What are the lessons learned in the adoption of IFRS by other global companies?
  • What is the PwC Methodology to conversion?

We look forward to meeting you on Tuesday 9 June 2009.
