Key Social measures

Several funds and programmes have been set up,namely:

  • The National e-Inclusion Foundation will donate refurbished PCs, with free software, to poor families and NGOs as well as free training
  • The setting up of a micro – credit scheme through the DBM for financing projects implemented by women
  • The Manufacturing Adjustment and SME Development Fund will grant loans up to Rs100,000 to women
  • The Eradication of Absolute Poverty Programme, strong with Rs 395 million, targets 229 pockets of absolute poverty.
  • The Social Housing Fund has been allocated Rs 500 million to finance 10 mixed-income communities and will be built on 1000 arpents of land
  • All beneficiaries of the Basic Retirement Pension, Basic Widows Pensions, Basic Invalidity and other pensions and social aid programme, have been granted a 9% increase
