- Planning considerations
- Don’t forget to fi le your medical/dental expenses claim (for expenses
incurred in 2007) with your 2007 income tax return.
- You may be entitled to a reduction in the benefi t-in-kind on your
company car if you spend at least 70% of business hours away from
your employer’s premises and drive at least 5,000 business miles
annually, or if you spend a minimum of 30 working days abroad and
the car is not available for use by your family or household.
- Your 2007 income tax return must be fi led by 31 October 2008 to
avoid a surcharge and penalties.
- Consider the use of trusts when planning the transfer of assets to the
next generation.
- If you leave an occupational pension scheme, you are entitled to the
value of your own pension contributions. Did you know that if you
have completed more than two years of pensionable service you
should also be entitled to the value of your employer’s contributions?
- Remember that companies obtain tax relief on normal pension
contributions in the year of payment.
- Do you wish to extract property from a company without incurring
stamp duty? Structured correctly, this is achievable.
