Implementation report on the Trans-European Network for Transport (TEN-T) guidelines (2005)

  • Description:

  • The study aims at providing an in-depth knowledge of the technical status and elaborating a sound analysis of the implementation of the TEN-T network. One of the objectives of the study is to support the preparation of the implementation report covering the years 2002 and 2003, and to facilitate the preparation of future reports. Considering enlargement, the study aims also at providing a solid ‘baseline status’ allowing access to future progress in the implementation guidelines in the new member states.

Feasibility and preparatory study regarding a multi-stakeholders European targeted action for sustainable tourism and transport (2004)
  • Description:

  • This feasibility study aims to contribute to uncouple the economic growth of the European tourism sector and its negative environmental impacts by moving towards more sustainable production and consumption patterns in European tourism. The study is being carried out in the context of the Council Decision (2000/819/EC) of 20 December 2000 on a multi-annual programme for enterprise and entrepreneurship, and in particular for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) (2001-2005).

Use of XBRL for collection of statistics in Member States (2005)
  • Description:

  • XBRL to retrieve statistical information from enterprises is to reduce reporting burden and to improve the quality of business statistics. Specifically, the objective of the work carried out is to provide clear conclusions as to whether or not XBRL can be used efficiently in the statistical reporting chain, and wether XBRL can gain widespread acceptance among European enterprises and NSI’s.

Human resource consultancy services (2006)
  • Description:

  • The main goal of this project is to provide HR consultancy services to support the European Training Foundation in assessing, re-defining and implementing its HR systems and processes. Notably, it aims to review and update the actual competence framework.

Organisation of training courses for EURES advisers (2004)
  • Description:

  • PwC is organising, in cooperation with the responsible European Commission department and with the EURES representatives from the member states, the annual training course programme offered to the EURES members and partners for their EURES advisers, for future EURES advisers and for other staff.

GALILEO - Business plan and advisory services (2004)
  • Description:

  • GALILEO is the European initiative to develop a new world-wide Satellite Navigation System alongside GPS. At the request of the European Commission, PricewaterhouseCoopers, with input from Satel Conseil, Ovum, Denton Wilde Sapte, Willis Inspace, Deutsche Bank and Nottingham Scientific, has developed a business plan for GALILEO as a basis for getting private sector involvement in the project through a Public Private Partnership.

Framework contract to provide a sustainable impact assessment (SIA) of the negotiations of the ACP-EC economic partnership and the trade agreement between the EC and the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (2003)
  • Description:

  • The project provided an examination of the SIA’s potential economic, environmental and social impacts in a dynamic framework; provided comprehensive SIAs of negotiations in a sectoral and/or regional context; provided a final SIA on each package of agreements before their adoption; created a basis for a dialogue concerning the above SIAs with all interested stakeholders; contributed to the development of a credible international network of SIA experts through participation in policy debates on sustainability impact assessment with experts in other countries and within other international organisations.

Study looking at obstacles to cross-border mobility for apprentices and other young people undertaking initial vocational-training, and how to overcome such obstacles (2006)
  • Description:

  • PwC conducts an in-depth study into initial vocationaltraining methods across Europe (Member States, EEA countries, the candidate and pre-accession countries), focusing on mobility. The aim of the study is to identify the obstacles at this level which prevent or stand in the way of mobility to improve work-skills becoming more widespread, and to suggest practical solutions which could overcome these obstacles. Once completed, the study’s results need to be circulated and evaluated.

VAT - Study to increase the understanding of the economic effects of the VAT exemption for financial and insurance services (2006 - ongoing)
  • Description:

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which the VAT treatment of the financial services sector in the EU25 has a distorting effect; to profile any distortion found in terms of intensity and nature, and to formulate recommendations for changes to the Sixth VAT Directive to remove the identified distortion in the financial services sector in the EU25.
