Since the onset of the Asian Financial crisis in 1997, all markets in Asia including the oil & gas market have undergone tremendous changes. In attempt to stabilize and strengthen the markets, substantial reforms have been undertaken, stricter regulatory and supervisory measures have been implemented, and accounting standards have been improved.

This handbook recognizes that reforms are continuing and that some of the information will become outdated as this proceed.
