Scope / Overall Summary of Role

As a Senior Associate in one of our specialised industry sectors, you will participate in every aspect of a client engagement, from planning to execution to completion.  Depending on the size of the client, you will typically be part of a team of 2- 5 people, acting as in-charge on an engagement, reporting into the Audit Manager/Senior Manager or Partner and reviewing the work of more junior staff on the engagement.

Specific Areas of Responsibility

  • Conducting research in order to have an in-depth understanding of a client's industry and business;
  • Considering the audit approach to the engagement, which makes effective use of team members' skills and is within budget for the assigned components
  • Ensuring that all work is completed and documented in accordance with our prescribed standards;
  • Developing the knowledge of junior team members by sharing best practices and providing regular coaching on the completion of their assigned sections;
  • Demonstrating strong technical knowledge and having the ability to research issues, present alternatives and conclusions;
  • Monitoring the progress of the junior team members towards completion of work and adjusting the work plan when necessary;
  • Continuously communicating with the Manager and/ or Partner with respect to engagement progress – risks, issues, variances from plan in terms of time, budget, etc; and
  • Drafting complete financial statements and related notes as well as initial drafts of reports to the client
  • Participating in engagement economics of self and field staff and explaining variances from plan;
  • Participating in delivering meaningful individual performance evaluations on a timely basis.
  • Developing strong relationships with your clients to facilitate the completion of client work.
  • Identifying potential opportunities to provide additional services to your clients.

Requirements

  • ACA or ACCA or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a professional services firm;
  • Detailed understanding of Irish GAAP
  • Knowledge of US GAAP/ SEC and International Accounting Standards would be an asset;
  • Commitment to providing excellent client service;
  • Well developed organisational and analytical skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on multiple engagements concurrently.
