ASSURANCE: Methodology & Technology (M&T) - Manager

The key objective of the role is to drive quality in audit engagements. To achieve the above, the M&T Manager assumes the role of the Subject Matter Expert on ISAs, PwC Audit, US GAAS and SOX Section 404 engagements and assists engagements teams and/or individuals through coaching, guidance and advice to achieve efficient quality assignments.

Core responsibilities involve:

A. Implementation of PwC Audit, FIA, US GAAS and related projects, which include the following responsibilities:

  • Project Management
  • Localisation of L& D content
  • Assisting with training including providing SME attendance
  • Creation of Malaysian specific Master Data sets including liaison with Risk Management, Systems & Process Assurance and Assurance Technical
  • Design and creation of practice aids
  • Update of audit knowledge databases – PwC Audit/ISA related matters and US GAAS/SOX
  • Liaison with Assurance Technology and GTS to ensure that all related software and hardware facilitates the implementation project
  • Implementation and support of all M&T initiatives and projects in the regional office

B. Provision of support, coaching and QC (where applicable)
The M&T manager will undertake post-implementation initiatives that will assist individuals and engagement teams in achieving increased quality and efficiency. These initiatives include but are not limited to:
  • Direct coaching of teams and individuals as and when requested by participating in planning meetings, reviewing and commenting on audit strategy and advising on detailed audit plans. Assistance in resolution of specific industry specific issues for generic audit approach.
  • Conducting Q&A and update sessions to clarify specific areas on methodology to improve efficiency and effectiveness. This includes RO visits and Industry Group briefings.
  • Conducting continuous improvement reviews to gain an overview of the performance of the practice in terms of compliance with PwC Audit Guide and to identify areas for improvement.

C. Assist in determining practice-wide policies where required
The M&T Manager is required to research and draft policies for firm-wide adoption in their respective areas of expertise and ensure consistent implementation throughout the practice.

D. Monitoring and Reporting
The M&T Manager also takes responsibility for related monitoring and reporting requirements. This may include direct “cold” reviews of selected engagements and assessment of engagement team performance on such engagements.

Requirements:
  • Degree or professional accounting qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Assurance practice
  • Good knowledge of auditing standards
  • Technology savvy
  • Ability to write well with good verbal communication skills
  • Personal attributes include good interpersonal skills, self-motivation, resourcefulness, tenacity and knowledge of Microsoft application tools
