PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) had its annual “PwC Night” party on November 9th at the National Taiwan University Sports Center. This year’s party was filled with atmosphere from many different countries, starting with a fiery flamenco dance, and followed by a special tap dance performance from PwC’s CPA partners entitled “One Mind, Winning Step-by-Step”.
PwC CEO (Territory Senior Partner) Albert Hsueh and Managing Partner Wen-horng Kao were on hand to show their dance moves, the result of diligent practice. Led by Wen-horng Kao’s capable footwork, the firm’s CPAs – all decked out in blue jeans and looking like cowboys and cowgirls – joined in a tap dance to the sounds of Jay Chou’s new song “Cowboy on the Run”, amidst western-theme decor and a warm atmosphere. With their dance steps neatly synchronized, the CPAs fully demonstrated PwC’s “One Mind, Winning Step-by-Step” spirit. In order to deliver a perfect performance, the accountants had held intensive practices in the two weeks leading up to the big night, and this dance certainly won the acclaim of colleagues. The arena was filled with applause as the party reached the first of many high points.
Afterwards, the humor of gifted impersonator Bacy Tang, who was emceeing the evening, soon had a all the colleagues in the audience in stitches. Under the leadership of different CPAs at the firm, a variety of performances were enjoyed by all, including a “hip hop show”, “African war dance”, “belly dance”, “TK rock”, “European Broadway” and an “Australian cheerleader competition”. The scene was filled with joy, full of exotic carnival atmosphere for the excitement of the colleagues, giving them a kind of round-the-world tour in dance and song.
In addition to the exciting performances by colleagues, this year’s annual party also featured a special guest performance from the I-Link Community Services Association’s Family of Joy, which helps mentally disabled children. Some of the Family of Joy’s kids also joined PwC’s “Sports Jamboree” the following day (November 10) to perform a carefully rehearsed dance number. They came to thank PwC for its NTD 1.68 million contribution to the Association, but PwC believes the real assistance is not so much the material support as it is helping the children become independent adults. That gave a deeper meaning to the Family of Joy’s performance.
At the Sports Jamboree, in addition to the dance performance and the exciting athletic competition events, there were also many games and contests for parents and children, and DIY arts and crafts booths for the enjoyment of both colleagues and family members. All in all, it was a warm and festive holiday.
