Life at PwC is not all about work. We have an active firmwide Sports and Social Committee that makes every effort to compliment the firm’s focus on career development, with opportunities for an active and varied social life!
A few of the firm-subsidised social events organised by the committee include:
- PwC Stars in their Eyes - Held in 2004 and 2006 at Vicar Street, the PwC 'Stars in their Eyes' is the firm’s very own talent competition. The night has been a huge success with audiences of over 1000 people enjoying performances such as ‘Eminem’, ‘Bob Marley’, ‘KT Tunstall’, ‘Girls Aloud’, ‘Robbie Williams’, and many more.
- Sports Day - Teams from all departments in the firm compete against each other in a number of sports events, followed by a barbeque and disco.
- Annual Table Quiz – A popular event, with over 100 teams of 4 competing in a ‘pub style’ quiz for prizes.
- PwC Golf Society - Supported by the committee, the Golf Society organises approximately six outings per year including an annual weekend away (subsidised for golfers & non-golfers!).
Soccer
Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the firm.
One of the highlights each year is the PwC Annual European Soccer tournament which has in recent years been held in Lisbon and Luxembourg. The 2006 tournament took place in September in Stockholm, Sweden. Eighteen countries participated in the Men’s tournament and for the first time a Women’s tournament was also held with ten countries participating. PwC Dublin sent both a Men’s and Women’s team to this highly competitive tournament.
The men’s Team reached the semi-final narrowly losing on penalties to the ultimate winners, Holland. A fantastic trip was had by all.
Our soccer teams participate in the Men's and Women's DCASS summer soccer leagues and there are many intra-office matches organised throughout the year where the rivalry can be intense!
We regularly hold soccer forecasting competitions during events such as the World Cup and the European Championships with a range of prizes including all expenses paid trips to International and Premiership matches.
Other Sports organised within PwC include Tennis, Rugby, Horse riding, Canoeing, Skiing, Yoga and many more
