We work actively to help employees strike an effective balance between the demands of their work and personal lives.
Here are some of our most recent initiatives to promote work/life balance:
Health and Wellness Sessions
The series of sessions were presented by Wendy Sweet of the 'Personal Training Company'. They were designed and delivered to help address specific needs of our PricewaterhouseCoopers staff.
- stress management in the workplace,
- posture,
- nutrition,
- staying in shape whilst travelling,
- women's health issues.
We've also used other medical and health consultants to talk to staff on:
- eye care,
- men's health.
Heartsmart
It's important to us that our staff are healthy. To assist our busy staff to keep abreast of any potential health issues we engaged Heartsmart to give interested staff personal health consultations.
Features include:
- diabetes testing,
- blood pressure testing,
- cholesterol testing,
- discussion on nutrition,
- discussion on exercise,
- general health issues.
Self Defence
Another recent initiative undertaken was the running of self defence sessions. These have been run by Body Focus and covered:
- safety awareness,
- avoiding dangerous situations,
- self defence techniques.
PPW
PPW stands for Progressing PricewaterhouseCoopers' Women. Our steering group has identified four key goals which will help us meet the objective of progressing PricewaterhouseCoopers Women. These are:
- to raise the profile (internally and externally) of PricewaterhouseCoopers' women,
- to promote and achieve life balance choices linked to individual circumstances,
- to ensure that the personal and professional development needs of PricewaterhouseCoopers' women are identified and addressed,
- to influence PricewaterhouseCoopers' processes to promote progression, development and retention of women.
We have undertaken a number of projects to help us meet these goals including:
- profiling key statistics relevant to PPW,
- championing mentoring schemes within the company
- Dress for Success,
- ensuring our new Auckland PricewaterhouseCoopers building has suitable facilities for new mothers.
