Our Assurance and Business Advisory Services (ABAS) practice is the worlds leading audit and advisory practice. Globally, our clients include almost half of the FTSE 100 and a third of the fortune 500 companies, and here in Ireland we serve as auditors to a third of the listed companies and 44% of the companies listed in the Irish Times Top 100 companies listing.
In essence, our services in this area enable our clients’ directors and shareholders to gain comfort that the company’s systems, processes and risk management procedures are operating effectively and within a well-controlled environment. As auditors we provide assurance on the truth and fairness of a company’s financial information; highlight controls and processing system weaknesses and offer practical recommendations for improvement. As business advisors, we work with our clients’ management teams to help them with complex accounting issues; to improve their business systems and processes; to advise on acquisitions and disposals; to strengthen their corporate governance and management structures and to respond to regulatory or accounting developments such as the transition to International Financial Reporting Standards.
Our Structure
As you can imagine, our client base is extremely diverse in both size and nature. It ranges from start up and private companies to listed public companies and subsidiaries of multinational corporations. It covers the many constituents of Ireland’s economy including banking, insurance, investment management, technology, communications, manufacturing, retail, healthcare and public service sectors.
To service this client base effectively we have over 1,200 people who are organised into five industry sectors: Banking & Insurance; Investment Management (IM); Consumer Industrial Products & Services (CIPS); Technology, Information, Communication & Entertainment (TICE) and Business and Wealth Services (BWS).
Opportunities in ABAS
We are currently seeking candidates who have recently qualified through to Senior Manager level. While audit experience and technical ability are important, the nature of our work requires that our people demonstrate well developed communication skills and an affinity with our three core values – excellence, teamwork and leadership.
Risk Management Services (RMS)
Our Risk Management Services practice operates across all of our ABAS industry sectors providing specialised advice and assistance in relation to systems, processes, controls and risk management. We have 90 RMS professionals providing specialist advice on the audits of our largest clients as part of integrated ABAS teams.
We also help client organisations to improve their performance in relation to finance, technology, risk management and internal control. Our people use their business process, internal controls, information technology, data management and project management skills to provide our clients with the optimum solution.
The range of services RMS provide to our clients includes IT effectiveness reviews; system sourcing and selection assistance; security reviews; ethical hacking; project management and data quality assistance; governance and risk management assessments; business process improvement reviews; business continuity planning; and internal audit.
