Outstanding PricewaterhouseCoopers employees awarded with inaugural CEO Award for the British Columbia Region

Awards given to three distinctive individuals and client teams

September 22, 2009 — PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Canada is proud to announce the recipients of the firm's inaugural 2009 CEO Award for the British Columbia (BC) Region. The CEO Award is given out in three categories: People, Client and Team, recognizing two individuals and one team from PwC that stand out and have achieved outstanding results for the firm and its clients.

This year's BC Region CEO Award winners include:

  • Alroy Chan, Winner — People Category: In addition to taking on responsibilities as a vice president in PwC's Advisory Services group, Alroy has been pivotal in recruiting and mentoring PwC staff to provide a unique Dispute Analysis and Valuations service offering to the firm's clients.
  • Josie James, Winner — Client Category: A member of PwC's Canada IT group, Josie developed creative solutions and processes to improve the firm's delivery of IT services-from communicating upcoming IT changes to ensuring PwC staff in the BC Region offices are equipped with the right technology to best service their clients.
  • PwC client team primarily consisting of Alroy Chan, Antoine Bishara, Courtney Allec, Eleanor Joy, Kelsey Roste, Kim Garaway and Robert Orr, Winner — Team Category: The PwC team completed a number of complex valuation and financial analysis assignments for an investment management firm this past year. Overall, the collaborative efforts of PwC and management resulted in a significant transfer of knowledge and skill, enhancing the client portfolio companies' ability to complete significant components of the valuation and financial analysis in-house.

Throughout the year, staff and partners in PwC's Vancouver and Surrey offices are encouraged to submit nominations for the CEO award in each of the three categories. This year's BC Region award recipients were selected from a list of nominees by a regional nomination committee (consisting of PwC staff and partners and senior human resources representatives from four local businesses) and recognized during a local celebration event earlier this summer.

"The CEO Award recognizes and rewards our PwC individuals and teams who go that extra mile to create business impact and live our firm values of leadership, excellence and teamwork," says John DeLucchi, PwC BC Region Managing Partner. "Particularly in this challenging economy, we believe it's important to take the time to recognize those who achieve great results, celebrate their successes and thank our staff for a job well done. We are proud to honour this exceptional group of PwC people who are truly role models for helping make PwC the distinctive professional services firm."

Recipients of the local office CEO Awards are also eligible to receive the National CEO Award, which honours two PwC Canada staff members and one team who go above and beyond to provide a distinctive experience to PwC's people and clients. The national winners were announced in a special ceremony on September 14, 2009 and received a monetary prize of up to CDN$25,000.
