Three awards given to distinctive individuals and client teams

September 9, 2009 — PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Canada is proud to announce the recipients of the firm’s inaugural 2009 CEO Award for the Alberta region. The CEO Award is given out in three categories: People, Client and Team, recognizing two individuals and one team that stand out and have achieved outstanding results for PwC and its clients.

This year’s Alberta region CEO Award winners include:

  • Casey Charleson, Winner – People Category: In addition to taking on responsibilities as an audit associate in PwC’s Audit and Assurance Group, Casey organized an employee relay race to encourage health and wellness in the Edmonton office.
  • Marissa Maitland-Hare, Winner – Client Category: A member of PwC’s Human Resources Services group in Calgary, Marissa developed and implemented processes to ensure that PwC’s expatriate tax clients would receive their tax returns and be able to file them by the deadline from the country in which they were located.
  • University of Calgary client team, Winner – Team Category: The success of the team of 25 stems from their demonstrated innovation and teamwork in creating a new service area for the firm: administrative operational review. The team developed a series of recommendations to improve support service functions across the University’s campus.

Throughout the year, staff and partners in PwC’s Calgary and Edmonton offices are encouraged to submit nominations for the award in each of the three categories. This year’s Alberta region award recipients were selected from a list of nominees by a regional nomination committee, to be recognized during a local celebration event.

“The CEO Award recognizes and rewards PwC individuals and teams who go that extra mile to create business impact and live our firm values of leadership, excellence and teamwork,” says Raymond Crossley, PwC Calgary office managing partner.

Barry James, PwC Edmonton office managing partner adds: “In this challenging economy, we believe it’s particularly important to take the time to recognize those who achieve great results, celebrate their successes and thank them for a job well done. We are proud to honour this exceptional group of PwC people who are truly role models for helping make PwC the distinctive professional services firm.”

Recipients of the local office CEO Awards are also eligible to receive the National CEO Award, which honours two PwC Canada staff members and one team who go above and beyond to provide a distinctive experience to PwC’s people and clients. National winners will be announced in a special ceremony on September 14, 2009.
